Lost Tea Rooms of Downtown Cincinnati:
Reflections & Recipes

Before suburban shopping centers and malls, downtown Cincinnati was the center of retail activity - the only place to seriously shop. A trip downtown became a big event, especially at Christmas time. The big department stores like Shillito’s, Pogue’s, McAlpin’s, and Mabley and Carew were a “must stop.” Each had a tea room (restaurant) that catered to shoppers and office workers at lunchtime. Our Tuesday, May 15 meeting speaker will be Cynthia Kuhn Beischel. Her book, Lost Tea Rooms of Downtown Cincinnati- Reflections and Recipes, includes stories about those days along with photos and many, many recipes of typical dishes served at those tea rooms. You can purchase this book or her other book, Virginia Bakery Remembered, which is loaded with many mouth-watering recipes from the old Virginia Bakery located in Clifton. All are welcome to attend at Nathanael Greene Lodge since our meetings are always free and open to the public!

Meeting Date: Tuesday, May 15th, 2018 Time: 7:30 pm
Place: Nathanael Greene Lodge at 6394 Wesselman Rd.
Mulberry Room (Lower Level)
